Book Appointment

East Ryde Family Medical Practice is a private practice that operates by appointment only.

As we aim to provide thorough healthcare and also keep waiting times to a minimum, it is often helpful to advise the reception team what you are coming in for as some circumstances need more time.

To help suit the need of our patients we offer different types of consultations

  • Standard appointment – 15 minutes (1 issue)
  • Long appointment – 30 minutes (new patients or >1 issue)
  • Prolonged appointment – 45 minutes (complex concern)

Long Appointments would include:

  • New patients
  • Multiple issues (more than 2)
  • Full medical check ups
  • Skin checks
  • Any surgical procedure including skin biopsies
  • 6 week baby check and immunisation
  • 6 week post natal check
  • Travel advice and vaccinations
  • Mental health (Depression, anxiety, stress, crisis)
  • Mental health care plans
  • Insurance medicals
  • Driving medicals (RMS)
  • Implanon insertion/removal

In some circumstances, if you have multiple health issues that cannot be addressed in the allocated time, your doctor may ask that you make another appointment. If you are unclear as to the length of appointment required, please discuss with our reception staff.

Adding extra family members to a single appointment causes delays to other patients.  Please book an individual appointment for each family member needing to be seen.  This will help your doctor run on time and ensures that each patient is given the time their problems require.

An sms reminder is sent to your mobile to confirm your appointment the day before.

Missed or cancelled appointments at short notice interfere with the availability of our doctors to other patients. Please notify our receptionists if you cannot make your appointment in time so that other patients may be booked in, otherwise a missed appointment fee may be charged.

If you have an emergency, please phone 9888 1083 immediately.
If the emergency is life threatening, please dial 000

On Arrival

When you arrive for your appointment please inform our receptionist so that we can let your doctor know. It is also important that you inform us immediately if you are suffering from a medical emergency such as:

  • an allergic reaction
  • shortness of breath
  • chest pain
  • bleeding

To avoid spread of infection, we would also appreciate to know if you think you or your child might be contagious, (if you have a rash, fever, cough, vomiting or diarrhoea) as we may need to seat you in a separate area.

Delays

General practice is very unpredictable and unfortunately medical emergencies can occur, which despite our best efforts the doctor can fall behind. We thank you in your understanding of this.

Please feel free to phone the practice before your appointment to check whether your doctor is running on time.  As a courtesy to you, if delays are significant, we will endeavour to inform you of the delay as well as enable you to reschedule your appointment if you wish to do so.
